We are going back to Bali by popular demand! Our 11 day Bali tour is an extraordinary “not to miss” experience that you will cherish forever. I have travelled extensively and without a doubt Bali is my favourite place. Bali is enchanting, cultural, spiritual and, most of all, Bali has a “special” magic! We invite you to join us – you will not regret it!

"Thank you for a most fabulous trip, traveling with your company just gets better and better. I've already been back to your website to check for sunny destinations for about this time next year. I love being away in November when our weather is in transition and everything looks dull and grey outside." Shirley, Edmonton

Full Itinerary

Over the course of 11 days, our expert Balinese guide will show us the inner and outer beauty of the island - the areas around NUSA DUA and the rich cultural and artistic centre of UBUD - the bustling market, beautiful temples, quaint little shops and restaurants, the sacred Monkey Forest, and traditional Balinese dance performances. Throughout our journey we will visit many areas including breathtaking terraced rice fields, famous volcanoes, ancient temples with magnificent architecture set against exotic backdrops, unique villages specializing in amazing Balinese wood carvings, jewelry and art work.

We will experience first-hand the humbleness and hospitality of the Balinese people and the innate spirituality of the island through our guided tours. We will also have free time to relax and enjoy the many diverse activities Ubud has to offer from spa, shopping, wonderful organic food, opportunities to attend a cooking class, walks amidst the rice fields, see a Balinese healer or just mingle with the people and enjoy the experience.

The three additional nights in TAIPEI, which is the capital and largest city of Taiwan, is a phenomenal optional add on - where again an expert guide will show us the key highlights from night markets, to museums, to the countryside. For those interested, please join me in Taipei before returning to Canada!

Nov 1: Depart HOME CITY

Depart home city for Bali on Day 1. You will cross the international dateline and arrive at Denpasar airport in Bali on Day 2. The airline will provide meals.

On arrival, you will be met by one of our English speaking tour guides at the arrival gate and will be transferred to the Grand Mirage Resort and Spa - an exquisite 5 star beachfront resort with a renowned world-class spa in the Nusa Dua Resort area. The transfer is included.

After check-in, you can settle in and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at your leisure. We will then all meet for a Welcome Dinner, where you will be joined by your tour guide, Judi, as indicated in the Welcome sheet that will be provided to you when you check in. We will spend 3 nights (Day 2 through Day 4) at this magnificent resort with breakfast included.

After breakfast and an all group orientation session, you can relax and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

As an option, enjoy a spa treatment of your choice (with first $100 covered by us!) at the spa on premises. This spa, which is spectacular and is visited by folks from all over the world, offers a vast array of exotic body, facial and other treatments, in addition to Thalassotherapy which is one of their signature treatments. Indeed, an incredible experience!

There are plenty of other activities to choose from including a stroll on the beach, yoga, aqua fit, shopping at a nearby Balinese mall, or just relaxing on the beach or by the poolside.

For dinner, we can choose to sample the scrumptious buffet at Grand Mirage, or dine at one of the hotel’s specialty restaurants or at one of the many great restaurants nearby.

After breakfast, we enjoy the rest of the morning at our leisure.

During the afternoon and into the early evening, we will experience a guided tour to Uluwatu Temple in south Bali. This is a stunning cliff-top temple dedicated to the spirit of the sea which is one of Bali’s most sacred places of worship. You will be able to experience a spectacular view and a stunning sunset from this famous location.

We will also attend one of the traditional spellbinding Balinese dances called the Kecuk Fire Dance at the same location. The cost of the tour and dance are included.

On the way back to the hotel, we will have dinner at a famous Balinese cooking school, where the food is absolutely delicious. This is a “not to miss” experience!

After breakfast we will transfer to Ubud, which is the cultural and artistic centre of Bali, and will stay at the Alaya Resort. This 4.5 star boutique hotel is in central Ubud close to everything – shops, restaurants, and museums.

Along the way, our guide will provide us with some basic information about Bali and the Balinese culture. We will visit some of the famous artisan villages on the way – the Mas Village, which is the centre of fine quality wood art; the village of Celuk, which is the centre of Balinese gold and silver work, as well as a village that is famous for batik. Opportunities for shopping abound.

We will make time for lunch and then visit Ubud’s famous Monkey Forest Sanctuary to see the monkeys and temple inside the forest – a favourite tourist attraction. Just hold on to your bags, glasses, and hide anything shiny!

After we check in, we will settle in and then meet for dinner. We can choose to dine at our hotel or at one of the many great restaurants within walking distance, or just a brief ride from the hotel via complimentary transport. Our guide will provide options.

During dinner, our guide will describe all that Ubud has to offer and go over the remainder of our itinerary in Ubud.

We will spend 7 nights (Day 5 through 11) in this magical location.

Nov 6 – UBUD (B, L)
After breakfast, our guided tour will first take us to a Balinese village to see the compounds people live in and get a flavour of Balinese life. This will be followed by a visit to a coffee plantation where you will be able to sample the one-of-a- kind famous Kopi Luwak coffee.

Our lunch which is included will be at the Mahagiri restaurant situated above terraced rice fields against a stunning backdrop of the Mount Agung, an active volcano where the Balinese believe the spirits of their ancestors live.

In the afternoon we will visit the Besakih temple, which is referred to as the Mother Temple of Hinduism in Bali. This temple is the largest and most holy temple in Bali that actually encompasses a complex of many temples over the slope of Mount Agung.

Our last stop will be Klungkung, where we visit the former Royal high court of Justice known as Kerta Gosa. The elaborately decorated ceiling features scenes from the battle between good and evil. Cost of the tour is included.

Upon return to our hotel, the rest of the evening is at leisure. Our guide will provide options for dinner and evening entertainment.

Nov 7 – UBUD (B)
Our all day guided tour today will start with a visit to the Unul Danu Bratan temple. This temple is located on a lake that fills the crater of ancient mount Bratan and is dedicated to the Goddess of serene lake Bratan, as a manifestation of the God as Wisnu, the preserver. We will then visit the spectacular rice terraces of Jatiluwih, before we stop for lunch.

In the afternoon, we travel to the famous Temple at Tanah Lot. This Temple was built in the 15th century and looks like a floating temple if the tide is high. Given its spectacular location, Tanah Lot has been claimed to be the one of the most photographed temples in Bali. Cost of the tour is included.

Upon return to our hotel, the rest of the evening is at leisure.

Nov 8 and 9 – UBUD (B)
Days and evenings are at leisure to explore this magical cultural centre. You can choose to visit Ubud’s oldest temple, which is walking distance from the hotel. You can also visit the Ubud Market – which is a true shopper’s paradise; shop or browse at the many interesting boutiques within walking distance; enjoy a spa treatment or a yoga class; visit an art gallery or just stroll around Ubud! You can also just relax and enjoy the facilities at our resort.

In the evening, we can take in one of the scheduled traditional Balinese music or dance performances that are generally held in Ubud. For a list of other optional activities in Ubud which we will to pre-arrange, provided there is interest, see below.

Nov 10 – UBUD (B)
After breakfast, we will visit the Elephant Safari park for an unforgettable ride on the back of a Sumatran elephant. We will have lunch at this location as well, and will then visit Kintamani village where you will see the breathtaking view of Mount Batur and Lake Batur.

Late afternoon, we will visit a sacred Hindu Balinese water temple called Pura TirtaEmpul, which is a major tourist attraction located near the town of Tampaksiring. The main feature of Tirta Empul is a series of courtyards that contain rectangular bathing pools. Balinese Hindus come from all over the island to this location for specific kinds of holy water and ritual purification The cost of this tour, including entrance fees but excluding lunch, is included.

Upon return to our hotel, the rest of the evening is at leisure.

Nov 11 – UBUD (B)
Day and evening are at leisure.

For those who are interested, we can take a stroll or scooter ride in the morning and have lunch in the middle of the rice fields at Sari Organik, a restaurant that offers delicious whole and organic food. Sari Organik uses ingredients from their organic garden or buys them from local farmers who grow chemical free products.

We can walk back to the hotel through the rice fields stopping for a refreshing drink along the way, followed by a stroll down to our hotel on a small winding road with many interesting little boutiques. The beauty and tranquility of this walk is mesmerizing and unforgettable.

During your free time in Ubud, you can also consider one or more of the following optional activities, and will have to let us know in advance if you are interested, as in these cases pre bookings would have to be made.

OPTION 1: On selected days, you could attend a Balinese cooking class, starting with a trip to the local market and ending in the early afternoon after you enjoy the delicious Balinese meal that you prepared. Pickup for this could be as early as 7:45 a.m. The cost of the cooking class will depend on the number of participants, and the type of class. More information will be provided based on interest.

OPTION 2: We can arrange for a full day optional excursion from Ubud to Seminyak which is another beachside tourist centre that has lots of quaint boutiques, cafes and restaurants. In Seminyak, we will be able to experience one of the most exquisite sunsets in Bali as well from a famous restaurant where we will also have dinner before returning to our hotel in Ubud. The cost of this tour is not included and will depend on the number of participants.

OPTION 3: On either day, we can arrange for you to see a traditional Balinese healer, a palm reader, or to have your Balinese horoscope done. This would take approximately a half day, with the cost ranging from $50 to $150 USD depending on the healer.

At the designated time, we will be transferred to the airport either for our flight home, or for the flight to Taipei for those who chose the Taipei extension option.

Upon arrival in Taipei, our tour guide will assist with our transfer to the Howard Plaza hotel – a 4.5 star centrally located hotel. The remainder of the day after check in will be at our leisure.
We will spend 3 nights in Taipei (Days 12 to 14)

Nov 13 – TAIPEI (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we will drive to the Northeast Coast, visit Pitou Cape and Nanya Rocks Formation, as well as the famous Yehlio Geopark. Yehliu Geopark is located in one of the most remarkable geological coastal areas in northern Taiwan. The park is known for its spectacular volcanic rock formations shaped over time by the wind and sea erosions which left fascinating structures including the famous Queen’s Head, Fairy’s Shoe, Sea Candles, and Elephant Rock. The park provides breathtaking views, and is one of the most famous wonders in the world.

We will then travel to Chiufen. The villages of Chiufen were once centers of gold mining in Taiwan. The gold is gone, but these quaint old villages, built of closely-packed houses clinging to steep mountainsides, continue to offer enchanting scenery and fascinating glimpses into the lifestyles of the past. Local art, crafts and delicacies will be available from a multitude of closely packed shops.

We will also visit the Pingxi District, known for its annual Sky Lantern Festival when hundreds of thousands of lanterns are released into the sky. We will take a stroll down Shifen Old Street, lined with a multitude of shops selling miniature sky lanterns. You will get the opportunity to write wishes on a rice paper lantern, together with another person, light a candle at its base and release it into the sky.

Dinner will be at a well known Dim Sum restaurant.

Nov 14 – TAIPEI (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we will first visit the Yangmingshan National Park and Hot Springs where we will be able to enjoy the hot springs and also have lunch.

Next will be a visit to Ximending, which is one of the most popular tourist areas, as it is the source of Taiwan's fashion, subculture, and Japanese culture. Ximending is a neighborhood and shopping district in the Wanhua District of Tapei. It is a shopper’s haven which also has entertainment and other activities that attract local and international visitors. We will take time for lunch at a local restaurant.

Then onto the Mengjia Longshan Temple, which is one of the most famous worshipped temples in Taiwan – it is a must-see attraction. The temple was built in 1738 by Han settlers from Fujian. In addition to serving as a place of worship and a gathering place for the Chinese settlers, this temple has served as a municipal, guild and self defence centre. The temple has many treasures, including the statue of Guanyin, the bodhisattva of mercy, as well as breathtaking dragon decorations. While Longshan is dedicated to Guanyian, there are over 100 other gods and goddesses worshipped at the temple. Wenchang Dijun, the god of literature, is located at the far right of the centre; Matsu, Goddess of the Sea, is enshrined in the back centre; red-faced Guan Gong, the god of war and patron of police and gangsters, is on the far left; with the Old Man Under the Moon, known as the Matchmaker or the Chinese cupid, close by. Longshan is one of the city’s top religious wonders, and is a prime location for exploring Taiwan’s unique temple arts and architecture.

Dinner will be at a popular Mongolian BBQ Dinner Restaurant, where we can sample a variety of meats, venison, vegetables, spices and seasoning and cook it over a huge charcoal grill.

After dinner, we will visit the Huaxi Night Market, or Snake Alley which is close to the Longshan temple. This is the oldest international tourist destination in Taiwan, and is adjacent to the Longshan Temple. This market offers local snacks and small seafood restaurants that serve delicious Taiwanese dishes, including many delicacies. What stands out the most are the various snake delicacies the market has to offer; hence the name "Snake Alley".

Morning free for leisure and shopping. At designated time, transfer to airport for flight back home.

Again, this year, we have chosen to work with Award Winning EVA Airlines for both our East Coast and West Coast passengers.

As a fully licensed travel agency, we are happy to arrange flights from anywhere in the world to meet up with this program.

Frequent Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

We do our best to answer all your questions before you travel with us. Please contact us if you have concerns that are not addressed here.

What is included in the cost?

Each individual tour specifies in the 'Included Features' section what is included in the tour. The cost always includes your accommodation, breakfast daily, excursions, activity instruction, local transportation, and services of your escort. Some trips also include lunches or dinners.

What are the accommodations like?

We stay in comfortable local, boutique style hotels. Accommodations are based on twin-share occupancy, (with private facilities) but single supplement is available if desired. Our Asian tours all feature deluxe hotels. Our accommodations are centrally located in the places we visit offering the convenience of personal exploration during free time.

How far in advance do I need to reserve my trip?

It is never too early to reserve your space on your trip of choice. Some of our trips book up several months or even a year in advance.  Please call us or e-mail to reserve your place as we would not want you to be disappointed.

What will the food be like?

We feature both simple, nutritious local foods and gourmet meals, depending on the destination. We always try to vary the diet so that our participants can learn about and enjoy the local cuisine. When meals are not included, we make sure that there are a number of restaurants in the immediate area of our accommodation to give our travelers the chance to enjoy searching out local restaurant experiences.

Who do I eat meals with?

You'll never dine alone. Our guides always offer the option for you and the group to join them for meals.

Can I come alone?

Most of the women who travel with us book as a single person. If you are travelling with a friend, you can of course share a room with them. It is part of our mission to provide women the opportunity to meet new friends while enjoying a wonderful travel experience.

What is the Guaranteed Share Rate?

Most women who travel with us come individually. Some want a single room, and some prefer to share a twin room. On many tours we offer a 'Guaranteed Share Rate' which means two singles will share a twin bedded room. In the case where there are not enough to share a twin room, we pay the single supplement difference for you. This Guaranteed Share Rate allows you to book with us knowing that you will be assured the lower shared twin cost.

How many people are in the group?

This depends on the tour you select. Our groups are always small, however, from 6 to 14 participants.

What is the average age of your travellers?

The average age of our travelers is between 30 – 65 years of age. We have had ladies in their mid twenties and ladies into their 70's – the love of travel and adventure has no particular age. Each group generally has a mix of ages.

Who are the guides?

Our tours are escorted by a Today's Woman Traveller staff member. Our team of ladies are all experienced tour escorts. They are well educated, speak the local language and make great traveling companions. We frequently hire local guides for specific touring or in particularly exotic locations where our escort may not speak the local language.

What type of women travel on your tours?

Our passengers are a very diverse range of women. They include single women, married women, divorcees and widows. They are women of all ages, and are often repeat customers. Our passengers come from across the country, from the USA, and some from other countries as well.

How physically fit do I need to be?

This depends on the trip you select. We accommodate women of different levels and abilities. Our walking tours are designed to suit all levels of walkers. You don't have to be in top shape, but you will enjoy it more if you are reasonably fit. Many women surprise themselves at their new-found strengths and abilities!

What kind of clothing should I pack?

We send you a complete trip dossier including a packing list when you reserve your trip with us.

How do I arrange transportation to meet up with the tour?

Today's Woman Traveller is operated by a fully licensed travel agency. We are qualified travel agents and able to assist with flight arrangements, if desired, to meet up with our tours. Our tours commence and end in, or near, transportation centres.
